Blind Poetics is a monthly spoken word event, held every second Monday in the Blind Poet pub in Edinburgh, co-hosted by Alec Beattie and Roddy Shippin.
Every month Blind Poetics presents a feature performer, and we’ve had poets, slammers, story-tellers, and performers from Africa, Australia, the USA, as well as from all corners of Scotland and the UK. They provide the highlight of the evening but the real lifeblood of Blind Poetics are the open mics. We encourage as many people as possible to come along to and to participate in our open mic; it’s one of the reasons we’re so popular with first-timers and those interested in getting into spoken word. Interested? Come along to our latest event, or check out how we handle the open mic.
We also publish the work of people who’ve appeared on our stage, in a pamphlet. We’ve got 4 editions at the moment, and you can pick up a copy at one of our events or by contacting us.
